The Impact of Personnel and Client Training on Patient Rights Compliance Improvement in Physiotherapy Clinic of Tabriz Rehabilitation Faculty

Abstract

Background and Objectives : Patient rights include care issues that patients expect to receive. Studies show that compliance of patient rights leads to improvement of therapeutic outcomes and clients’ satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patient rights’ compliance and improvement in physiotherapy clinic of Tabriz Rehabilitation Faculty in 1389-1390 by applying effective and efficient interventions.

Material and Methods: This is a descriptive-interventional study that was performed in 15 months by participation of 204 patients. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire which its reliability and validity were assessed and approved. In pretest, the questionnaire included 7 questions in demographic factors and 38 questions in 11 aspects of service quality. In posttest, the number of aspects and questions were increased to 12 and 38, respectively. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 16 software.

Results : According to the results of pretest data, aspects such as choosing provider, safety, prevention, dignity, autonomy and accessibility had non-acceptable service quality scores which were improved by applying effective and efficient interventions.

Conclusion : Regarding the obtained results, patient rights could be improved by analyzing, prioritization and implementation of proper interventions. The acquired results from this study could be employed in same contexts to build a respectful environment in health care services.
