Abstract
Background and objectives: Family physician program is one of the most important goals of the Fourth Economic and Social Development Program in health Sector in Iran which is designed according to the country’s health policies. Determining on the adaptation of family physician program with predefined policies offers explicit vision from its performance for policy-makers in order to decision-making for support, developing reform and continuity of the program. This study was designed to evaluate the applicability of family physician program with the dimensions of health policy–making from the perspective of health care professionals affiliated in Tabriz.
Material and Methods : In this cross-sectional survey, the statistical population constituted from health care professionals that involved in family physician program in Tabriz. The sample size of the study was equal to the whole statistical population. A researcher made questionnaire was used for data collection that its reliability and validity of the questionnaire was verified. In the descriptive statistics level, charts and average frequencies were used for data analysis and one sample t-test was used in the inferential statistics level.
Results: The result of this study indicated that factors such as effectiveness, relevance and impact in Iran’s family physician program had been in most accordance with dimensions of policy-making in health system, whereas the efficiency, adequacy and monitoring had been in least accordance.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, the assessment of causes and factors in the low accordance of Iran’s family physician program with some dimensions of policy-making in health system is needed.
