Abstract
Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Workaholism (work addiction) and its dimensions including work involvement, internal willingness to work and work enjoyment on job burnout in Non- industrial Iranian South Oil Company.
Material and Methods: The statistical population studied consisted of 514 official employees of non-industrial operations management in South of Iran. The sample size is 220 people who were selected through random stratified sampling according to the Cochran formula. Maslach (2001) questionnaire was used to measure job burnout and Spence & Robbins (1992) questionnaire was used to measure Workaholism. Questionnaire scoring was based on Licker's five-choice range. The data was analyzed by SPSS and Lisrel software. The validity of tool was determined by using experts view and factor analysis and the reliability determined by Cronbach alpha،which was higher than 0.7 for all the cases.
Results: The effect of workaholism on job burnout was 0.71 and the effect of the dimensions of workaholism including work involvement, drive to work and work enjoyment on job burnout were 0.79, 0.83 and -0.61, respectively.
Conclusion: The results showed that workaholics and its dimensions have significant impact on job burnout. workaholics, work involvement and internal willingness to work. have positive significant impact on job burnout and work enjoyment has negative significant impact on job burnout. Based on the results, the dimensions of workaholics have different effects on job burnout.
