Evaluation of Capabilities of Health Care Management Bachelor of Science Graduates

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Health care management is one of the key fields of healthcare. Evaluation capability of health care management graduate in this field will help to identify educational needs. The purpose of this study is to assess the abilities of graduates in the field of health care management in East Azerbaijan. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 51 graduates, 41 colleagues and 28 senior employees of health-related organizations in East Azerbaijan Province. A 360-degree questionnaire was self-designed using a validated 5-point Likert-type questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Results: Graduates had the most potential in ethical issues, customer orientation, problem solving, service delivery management and change management and Less power in the areas of financial management, human resources management and knowledge management. The largest gap identified from the perspective of all three groups was in the area of financial management. But from the graduates' point of view, there was a greater gap in information and communication management. Conclusion: This study showed that graduates in financial management and information and communication management need to be promoted. Therefore, reviewing the educational curriculum, using new teaching methods and holding additional training courses in these fields can help to improve graduates' abilities.
